This is a fun and delicious Halloween meal. Great for parties. Kids and adults both will love this yummy pie.
TOTAL TIME: Prep/Total Time: 30 min.
1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1 cup salsa
1/2 cup chili sauce
1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chilies
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 sheet refrigerated pie pastry
Orange paste food coloring (optional)
Brown beef and onion in a skillet. While the meat is cooking combine flour, salsa and chili sauce in a bowl. Blend well. Add this mixture to the beef.
After combining well add chilies and brown sugar. Spread shredded cheese on the top.
Pour into a deep dish 9 inch pie pan.
Place unrolled pastry over the beef mixture. Use a sharp knife to cut out the jack o’lantern face. Flute edges. Beat egg and food coloring together. Brush the colored egg over pastry.
Bake at 425 until crust is golden brown (10 to 12 minutes).
